AWESOME video for “A Bitter Broken Memory” by metalcore band ATREYU off their their sixth studio album “LONG LIVE” released in 2015.
The video is a compilation of various footage from live gigs that ATREYU have been performing over the past year since the launch of “LONG LIVE.”
“This video, essentially shows a bit of the journey that “LONG LIVE” has had so far. From being in the studio, to playing club shows to playing in stadiums,” commented drummer Brandon Saller . “We wanted to give our fans a little view of what we’ve been doing for the last year and what this record has done for us.”
ATREYU is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California formed in 1998. The band consists of Alex Varkatzas (vocals), Dan Jacobs (lead guitar), Travis Miguel (rhythm guitar), Marc McKnight (bass) and Brandon Saller (drums/vocals). They have released 6 studio albums: Suicide Notes & Butterfly Kisses (2002), The Curse (2004), A Death-Grip On Yesterday (2006), Lead Sails Paper Anchor (2007), Congregation of the Damned (2009), and LONG LIVE (2015)
In an interview, guitarist Dan Jacobs stated he is a really big 80’s rock fan. He then went on to quote “I love all that stuff and I think that is one generation where music was done right and I try to apply that as much as possible to our music” He also went on the discuss ATREYU’S influence from Gothenburg metal. A few bands he mentioned that the band loves are: Arch Enemy, In Flames, Soilwork, and all those type of bands.
ATREYU has toured alongside bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine, As I Lay Dying, and Blessthefall. In 2009 they co-headlined a tour with Hollywood Undead, Escape the Fate and The Sleeping. After touring in 2009-2010 the band took a hiatus to participate in other projects.
In July 2014, the band officially announced that they’re back making new music. It was also announced that the band plans to play live again, starting with a headlining show at Chain Reaction on September 11, 2014 and an appearance at the Aftershock Festival on September 14, 2014. ATREYU also participated in Slipknot’s Knotfest on the weekend of October 25–26, 2014.
On June 29, 2015, the new album, titled “LONG LIVE” was announced to be released on September 18. ATREYU currently have a tour scheduled in 2016 in support of the “LONG LIVE” album.
